In the article ¨Flint Lead Crisis Getting a Tad Overblown: David Masito¨ found on USAToday.com, it mentions that the lead leaching out into the water source for Flint, Michigan, is getting out of hand. It says that the panicking needs to stop and the 8,000 kids in Flint are better off than before. Apparently, the cityś children have far less lead in their blood than their parents or grandparents did at the same age.
Even though they have less lead in their blood, they still don’t have clean water for daily necessary routines. I disagree with the article because the 99,763 people need help and we should be panicking because itś killed 10 people and affected 77. This not only affects Flint, Michigan, but the world.

Editorial Writing – 1/7/16

In the article, “American Sniper Widow: Gun Control Won’t Protect Us,” found on CNN.com, Taya Kyle, widow of late Chris Kyle, says she believes gun control is going to take away our rights to bear arms. Taya said that the violent crime rate has gone down in the past 20 years, but our fears have gone up. Taya mentions, that mass killings aren’t just from guns, but from other objects such as: pipe-bombs, a fertilizer truck in the Oklahoma City incident in April, 1995, knifes, box cutters, a pressure cooker in the Boston Marathon, and planes in 9/11, the end result is the same. Even though those objects were used for mass killings, millions of people still use those and there’s no control or bans.

I 100% agree with Taya because there isn’t any controls or bans on those objects, people who are wanting gun control aren’t thinking of the multiple ways people have done destruction with other objects. I also believe if we have gun control, criminals would be more chaotic to get a gun and if we weren’t allowed to have our right to bear arms, there would probably be even more shootings because the rebellion in them would want that to happen. If everyone had a gun, there wouldn’t be that many shootings because if someone pulled out a gun, anyone could pull out theirs and save the victim.

Current Event – Body Found

Found on KLTV.com, article “Locals Concerned After Body Found In Liberty-City Area Creek” police are investigating a body found in a creek on Wednesday afternoon.
The body was found in Little Caney Creek on Mt. Pisgah Road, police said. The Longview Fire Department was called and brought a boat to retrieve body from creek.
Residents who live near the creek say nothing like this has ever happened. Alitha Wheat’s house closest to the creek where the body was discovered. She says her eleven-year-old daughter was very frightened when officials were at the scene.
“It upset her. She was crying,” said Wheat.
“I have so many family members that live around, I was worried what was going on, do I need to worry that something is happening so close to my home,” said Wheat.
The death of the unidentified man has not been determined. This is a worldwide problem because people are always found mysteriously found dead all over. I think if everyone thinks more and makes an effort to stay safe, these strange discoveries probably wouldn’t happen as much.

Located on KLTV.com, article “7 of 9 on Plane Crash in Ohio Were From Florida Firm.” Crashing into an apartment building in Akron, Ohio, a small passenger plane killed eight Tuesday afternoon.
Just 2 miles away from the small airport where the plane was supposed to land, it crashed and killed two executives and five employees at Pebb Enterprises, a Boca Raton-based company that specializes in shopping centers. The two pilots were also killed.
A pilot that landed shortly before the crash said there was no distress calls of the aircraft despite being on the same communications frequency as it went down also said by the National Transportation Safety Board on Wednesday.
Reports mention that the plane started going across the tops of trees, the left wing hit the ground, and then it crashed. No one in the apartments were home.
I feel these incidents wouldn’t happen if pilots flew with strict regulations and were more alert. This is a worldwide issue because crashes are happening more and more, some flights are even disappearing.

In The Hollywood Reporter’s article titled “Adele’s Hello Becomes Second-Fastest Video to Hit 100M on YouTube Views” Adele’s new single, “Hello” in five years reaches more than 100 million views on YouTube in just five days and is everyone’s new jam. “Hello” is being predicted to be number one on the Top 100 Hit List by next week and on November 20th, her new album “25”, is to at least sell one million albums. Adele might even win the crown for best debut album since 2000 when Britney Spears released “Oops I Did It Again”.
This is outstanding and insane; “Hello” is sweeping the world by storm and could beat any Taylor Swift song of 2015. This impacts the world because Adele is making history, not just with views on YouTube, but with talent.

Tell me about something that makes you smile and why?
“Seeing people have friends makes me smile because it shows that they’re happy.”
Have you made someone else smile today and how?
“Today, we were having a roast at the lunch table and everyone was smiling at my joke.”
What’s the happiest day of your life and why?
“The day I accepted Jesus Christ into my life because I was granted a new life through him.”
Have you made a difference in someone else’s day and how?\
“I held a door for an elderly woman and it might not have been a big thing, but it helped.”

Found on KLTV.com article “Three Men Charged After Burglarizing Spring Hill Concession Stand” Jordan Watson, Joshua Kucera, and Dustin Henson were arrested this week around 3am after a break in at the Spring Hill Stadium. The three men were caught down the road with their vehicle full of stolen snacks. The men are being held at the Gregg County Jail at a $5,000 bond. I find this ridiculous. The men could have just gone and purchased the cheap snacks somewhere or simply just gone without because it was 3am. These insane crimes shouldn’t even happen, people should probably just think before their crazy decisions. If people would think, the world would be a better place.

Humans of New York – My Favorite

My favorite human of New York is the artist/graphic designer who wants to be more assertive at work. I can relate not just because she’s an artist, but because most of the time I don’t stand up for what I believe in or speak up, I always just say “yes ma’am or yes sir” and nod. I want to speak up more and be assertive.

Current Event – Pixar Releases

New Pixar movies are in rumor and might even be true. In the article “4 of the Next 6 Pixar Films Are Sequels, Including The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4” found on “>Vulture.com, and more like “Finding Dory” and “Cars 3” as well as new movies like “Good Dinosaur” and “Moana”. All of the movies except “Good Dinosaur” won’t be released for another 2-4 years. Although the lengthy wait that feels like forever, this is great because if you were born from 1995-today, you were raised on Buzz & Woody and Nemo and it affects us all. Our childhood will hopefully carry on for more generations the awesome characters we grew up with. I’ll definitely be 18 and be going to see “Incredibles 2” in summer of 2019. I believe that these movies will inspire people across the world we’ll experience more great movies.

Located on CNN.com, article “Texas coach accused of ordering players to hit referee resigns.” high school football coach, Mack Breed, has resigned from his job due to telling two football players to tackle the referee because of racials comments. High school football is a major deal here in Texas and this inncident has made it even bigger. Sometime in October, there will be another hearing for Mack Breed in whether he’s found guilty or not, he will no longer be able to coach again. This doesn’t affect me, but I’m sure this will affect high school football teams across the nation.
