Current Event – Body Found

Found on KLTV.com, article “Locals Concerned After Body Found In Liberty-City Area Creek” police are investigating a body found in a creek on Wednesday afternoon.
The body was found in Little Caney Creek on Mt. Pisgah Road, police said. The Longview Fire Department was called and brought a boat to retrieve body from creek.
Residents who live near the creek say nothing like this has ever happened. Alitha Wheat’s house closest to the creek where the body was discovered. She says her eleven-year-old daughter was very frightened when officials were at the scene.
“It upset her. She was crying,” said Wheat.
“I have so many family members that live around, I was worried what was going on, do I need to worry that something is happening so close to my home,” said Wheat.
The death of the unidentified man has not been determined. This is a worldwide problem because people are always found mysteriously found dead all over. I think if everyone thinks more and makes an effort to stay safe, these strange discoveries probably wouldn’t happen as much.

Located on KLTV.com, article “7 of 9 on Plane Crash in Ohio Were From Florida Firm.” Crashing into an apartment building in Akron, Ohio, a small passenger plane killed eight Tuesday afternoon.
Just 2 miles away from the small airport where the plane was supposed to land, it crashed and killed two executives and five employees at Pebb Enterprises, a Boca Raton-based company that specializes in shopping centers. The two pilots were also killed.
A pilot that landed shortly before the crash said there was no distress calls of the aircraft despite being on the same communications frequency as it went down also said by the National Transportation Safety Board on Wednesday.
Reports mention that the plane started going across the tops of trees, the left wing hit the ground, and then it crashed. No one in the apartments were home.
I feel these incidents wouldn’t happen if pilots flew with strict regulations and were more alert. This is a worldwide issue because crashes are happening more and more, some flights are even disappearing.

White Oak Band Going to State

After months of hard work and dedication, the White Oak High School Band will be traveling to San Antonio for the State Marching Contest on Monday, November 2nd, 2015.
The Regiment of Roughnecks has been working hard since early August and the hard work is finally paying off, it wasn’t always like this though, at first it was very difficult. The freshmen weren’t that well at first, but they’ve definitely improved. Kary Cinotto, senior, was interviewed, “Did you think we would make it this far, especially to state?”
“No, because I feel like a lot of people didn’t have their stuff together and I didn’t think they realized how important this is and how big of a deal this is.” Cinotto said.
The band has spent countless hours to fix those mistakes and the band has been doing a wonderful job in advancing to state.
State only happens every two years so seniors are definitely emotional as this is their last time to march in the Alamo-Dome as a White Oak High Schooler. Landry Seimars, Senior and Drum Major, was interviewed:
“How does it feel to lead the whole band to state?” “It feels really good, especially sophomore year I just really wanted to win state and coming back senior year, being able to go back and lead the band is just a really great feeling and I’m glad I have the opportunity to do so.”

In The Hollywood Reporter’s article titled “Adele’s Hello Becomes Second-Fastest Video to Hit 100M on YouTube Views” Adele’s new single, “Hello” in five years reaches more than 100 million views on YouTube in just five days and is everyone’s new jam. “Hello” is being predicted to be number one on the Top 100 Hit List by next week and on November 20th, her new album “25”, is to at least sell one million albums. Adele might even win the crown for best debut album since 2000 when Britney Spears released “Oops I Did It Again”.
This is outstanding and insane; “Hello” is sweeping the world by storm and could beat any Taylor Swift song of 2015. This impacts the world because Adele is making history, not just with views on YouTube, but with talent.

Have you made a difference in someone else’s day and how?\

Found on KLTV.com article “Three Men Charged After Burglarizing Spring Hill Concession Stand” Jordan Watson, Joshua Kucera, and Dustin Henson were arrested this week around 3am after a break in at the Spring Hill Stadium. The three men were caught down the road with their vehicle full of stolen snacks. The men are being held at the Gregg County Jail at a $5,000 bond. I find this ridiculous. The men could have just gone and purchased the cheap snacks somewhere or simply just gone without because it was 3am. These insane crimes shouldn’t even happen, people should probably just think before their crazy decisions. If people would think, the world would be a better place.

Humans of New York – My Favorite

My favorite human of New York is the artist/graphic designer who wants to be more assertive at work. I can relate not just because she’s an artist, but because most of the time I don’t stand up for what I believe in or speak up, I always just say “yes ma’am or yes sir” and nod. I want to speak up more and be assertive.

Computer Hack on Campus Leads to Emergency Meeting

There will be an emergency meeting on Friday, February 6th, to decide if the journalism class should be allowed to rent computers for three weeks since the campus is offline.

Due to the entire school campus being hacked online, Leaugetown High School isn’t allowing anyone online. Students are allowed to bring personal computers from home, but wifi won’t be provided.
Rodney Stephens said “It’s great that the school board is moving so quickly on this request. If my request is denied, that would essentially kill an important tradition at this school. Yearbook day for seniors is one of the most beloved traditions at the school.”
For 22 years, the school has sponsored a “Yearbook Day” which is essentially a senior signing party.
Senior, Reggie White said, “We have to get our yearbooks before school is out. It’s one of the highlights of senior year. I certainly won’t be able to come back in the summer or fall for a signing party.”
Ed Robles, district technology director and the police department are doing an investigation, but so far, no suspects have been named. Robles said “Whoever hacked into our system is bright. Very sophisticated hacking, so not a student. The police are getting closer, though. He/She left a few bread crumbs for us to follow.”
